A glass of still water with… Mateusz Strozyk

Driving global operational excellence and innovation in healthcare, Mateusz Strozyk unites teams across continents to elevate patient care and inspire leadership growth at Fresenius Kabi.

Every morning, Mateusz Strozyk starts his day with a ritual that symbolizes clarity and refreshment - a glass of cool water. This simple act sets the stage for a day full of strategic decisions and leadership tasks on every continent from South America to Europe.

Mateusz started his work life as an apprentice 11 years ago and has worked his way up with tireless dedication. Today, he leads the global continuous improvement team with 10 plants in 9 different countries from Blonie in Poland. "Every morning it's a new challenge to balance my tasks across multiple time zones with the needs of our global team," explains Mateusz.

His life is rich with interests that complement his professional endeavors. From his days on the basketball court to the various sports he plays with his 5-year-old daughter and his passion for cars, his activities outside the office are as dynamic as his career.

Mateusz reads a lot about psychology and leadership and applies what he learns to promote a thoughtful and effective management style. "The books I read not only inform my strategies, but also my daily interactions to ensure we are always striving for better solutions," he says.

One of his goals is to make a difference not only within Fresenius Kabi, but also in the healthcare system as a whole. "Every connection I make and every process I improve is aimed at improving care for our patients - it's about making a tangible impact that goes beyond our immediate goals," he says.

With his story, Mateusz inspires his colleagues at Fresenius Kabi and proves that commitment and a constant thirst for knowledge can have a big impact both internally and for patients worldwide.

We asked him a few questions:

What is your full name and position?

My name is Mateusz Strozyk and I am Senior Director for Projects and Continuous Improvement in Blonie, Poland.

What’s your favorite beverage in the morning?

To be honest, I'm not a big coffee drinker. My wife consumes five to six cups a day, so I try to maintain a natural balance by mostly drinking water. It keeps me refreshed, especially since I'm active in sports.

Can you describe a typical workday?

Since the beginning of May, my schedule has changed significantly due to my global responsibilities. My teams are spread across various time zones from Puerto Rico to China. As a result, I often start early in the morning and work until late at night with longer breaks throughout the day. I try to manage it in a hybrid mode, handling meetings from home when they occur late in the evening. However, I make it a point to be physically present in the office for about eight hours most days unless there are meetings scheduled early or late. It's important for me to be visible and hands-on in managing the processes at our facilities.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part is the opportunity to meet new people every day and build connections worldwide. It’s exciting because no two days are the same. My role allows me to apply theories from my readings on psychology and leadership in practical settings. This hands-on application helps me refine these concepts and develop more effective strategies for leading our teams and improving processes.
