Queen Silvia Nursing Award for Innovative Dementia Care Platform

Fresenius Kabi Germany is proud partner of the QSNA since 2013

September 25, 2024

The Queen Silvia Nursing Award, established by the Swedish Silviahemmet Foundation in 2013 in honor of Her Majesty Queen Silvia, is awarded annually and recognizes innovative ideas aimed at improving nursing and healthcare. This award encourages nursing professionals and students to develop forward-thinking solutions for the challenges in everyday nursing care, especially for patients with dementia.

This year, Paola Gava, a nursing student from Germany, was honored with the Queen Silvia Nursing Award for her innovative online platform, MED-DEM. MED-DEM helps relatives of people with dementia by providing easy access to essential information and practical guidance. Additionally, it enables fast communication between family caregivers, nurses, and the medical team.

The award was presented to Paola Gava during a festive ceremony at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden personally honored the international prize winners, including Paola. Delegations from participating countries and institutions were present to celebrate the innovative contributions of caregivers across the world.

At Fresenius Kabi, we believe that excellent nursing deserves recognition. Fresenius Kabi Germany has proudly supported the Queen Silvia Nursing Award since it was established in 2013. This year, Dagmar Scherrer, Director Home Care Operations & Public Affairs, participated as a jury member and attended the ceremony together with further representatives of Fresenius Kabi Germany.

The application phase for the Queen Silvia Nursing Award 2024 has now started. Nurses and nursing students from Sweden, Finland, Germany, Lithuania, and Poland with innovative ideas for the future of care – especially for patients with dementia – can find more information and apply by November 1, 2024, on the official QSNA website: www.queensilvianursingaward.com.
