Fresenius Kabi USA is committed to preserving and protecting the environment and our natural resources, and to providing a safe and healthful workplace for its employees. To this effect, the Company will strive to comply with all federal, state and local Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) laws and regulations in the geographical locations and communities in which it operates.

Further, the Company will continuously promote best practices that aid in the protection of the environment and the prevention of work-related accidents, and occupational injuries and illnesses. The Company will pursue the development, maintenance, and improvement of comprehensive, continuous, preventative and protective EHS programs which shall be disseminated as appropriate throughout all activities and operations, and adhered to by all employees and at all times. It is each employee’s responsibility to contribute every day to the preservation and improvement of our environmental quality and the protection of our health and safety in the workplace.


Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)

The Fresenius Kabi USA Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Function at both the Corporate and Local levels is in charge of proactively overseeing, managing and controlling the aspects and impacts of our operations which could be detrimental to the protection of the environment and the preservation of our natural resources, and to ensure the provision of a safe and healthful workplace for our employees. These important objectives are accomplished by serving as the in-house subject matter experts in EHS affairs, providing consultation and guidance to all other functional groups of the Company, and collaborating as an integral strategic and tactical partner to achieve the Company’s ultimate goals and objectives as a Good Corporate Citizen and in a safe, socially and environmentally-responsible manner.

From our Strategic Policies to our Tactical and Operational business practices, our employees' health and safety is paramount in everything we do, just as we strive every day to protect the safety of our products and thereby that of our end-users and consumers, medical practitioners and patients. Our facilities have active and engaged EHS Committees that involve employee participation from all angles of our business to contribute to the continuous improvement of our workplace from an EHS standpoint.

Our Site EHS Committees are composed of cross-functional members from Management, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, New Product Development, Analytical Chemistry, Microbiology, Shipping & Receiving, Quality Assurance/Control, Human Resources and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS). The EHS Committees meet regularly to review and discuss local EHS affairs impacting operations, review accidents, incidents, injuries, illnesses, near misses, regulatory developments, and suggestions, concerns and corrective actions to be taken to address any outstanding issues.

Strategic Involvement

The EHS function interacts closely with Strategic Business Partners to carry out its duties, goals, objectives and responsibilities as a trusted advisor, subject matter expert and consultant to the business in the broad realm of environmental, health and safety affairs.

The Energy, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety Policy for is the basis for all pharmaceutical manufacturing operations and the framework for our objectives. The Integrated EEOHS Policy applies to all employees and persons of Business Unit Generics and IV Fluids who work on behalf of the Business Unit, and thereby, of the Company. It is the responsibility of top management that the energy, environmental and occupational health and safety policy is established, maintained and applicable to the Business Unit’s operations.
