EHS partners with:
Human Resources - in matters regarding Labor Laws for Occupational Health & Safety (OSHA) and Workers' Compensation Statutes overlapping with the requirements of American with Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE), Short and Long Term Disabilities (STD & LTD), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and in issuance of binding EHS Directives and Policies affecting the workforce.
Medical Affairs & Regulatory Affairs - in matters regarding authoring, reviewing, revising, and issuance of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for our finished products, product-related EHS inquiries from customers(e.g. personal protective equipment, accidental spills, accidental exposures, storage, disposal, and transportation issues), and in the importation of our parent-company's products into the U.S. and the exportation of Fresenius Kabi USA products abroad.
Communications - in matters regarding social, governmental, regulatory, community, or news media developments potentially affecting the business and/or our employees, such as with internal and/or external threats to the business from operational failures, natural disasters (e.g. fires, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, et al.), pandemic and/or endemic diseases (such as the H1N1 Flu), disseminating EHS information on the Company Intranet, and managing the Corporate Crisis Management Plan.
Marketing - in matters regarding authoring of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for launching newly-developed and acquired products, and responding promptly to customers' inquiries regarding EHS matters, including during new submittals or renewals.
Sales - in matters regarding safe transportation of our products by courier services and in aiding our Field Sales Force to meet the EHS criteria set forth by Hospitals, Clinics, and Medical Office Suites when visiting their facilities.
Customer Service - in matters regarding answering customer questions pertaining to EHS, including sustainability-related inquiries about the presence, or lack thereof, of certain toxins in our products and packaging, and technical information on Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during normal use of the product vs. abnormal situations such as in accidental spills.
Training & Organizational Development - in matters regarding development and launching of EHS Training Curricula for Instructor-Led and Computer-Based Training (CBT) course delivery.
Engineering and Local EHS - in matters regarding EHS due diligence during acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures, machinery and equipment safety assessments, risk assessments, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, standard operating procedures, environmental permitting for air emissions, hazardous & non-hazardous waste generation, wastewater & storm water discharges, emergency evacuation routes, regulatory inspections, insurance carrier visits, and other special projects.
Project Management - in matters regarding EHS due diligence during acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures, facility location moves and transitions, facility planning build-out and layout, permitting, commissioning, decommissioning, and machinery and equipment transfers.
Product Development / Business Development / Supply Chain Operations - in matters regarding EHS considerations for New Product Launches, SDS for incoming new raw materials/ingredients, conducting hazard assessments for employee protection, use, handling and storage requirements, and determining aspects and impacts of chemicals to air emissions, disposal management and methods for generated hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, process wastewater treatment and discharges, and all permitted parameters for air, land, and water media (EPA).
Finance, Treasury & Risk Management – in matters regarding periodic EHS risk management reporting to Parent Company, periodic workers’ compensation claim reviews and insurance policy renewals, insurance carrier Loss Control visits, audits, and inquiries for workers’ compensation and property insurance purposes, and in providing appropriate justification, return on investment, payback, and other financial affairs for EHS projects and spend.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) - in matters regarding issuance of EHS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cGMP (FDA) covered processes and areas, and, conversely, for Non-cGMP (Non-FDA) covered areas, and maintenance of the internal Safety Signal Ratings (similar to the Hazardous Materials Identification System, or HMIS) for Fresenius Kabi USA’s Finished Products, as well as for incoming Raw Materials, Ingredients, Chemicals, Excipients, Reagents, Cleaners, et al.
Legal - in matters regarding EHS sections review of Contracts, Regulatory Inquiries, Regulatory Applications for EHS Permitting, and EHS Due Diligence for Mergers, Acquisitions, and Divestitures projects.
Supply Chain Logistics - in matters regarding transportation of our products under the hazardous materials regulations and requirements for modal transportation domestically and internationally (DOT-PHMSA, DOT-FAA, IATA/ICAO, IDMG, IMO, Transport Canada et al.), and registrations as a hazardous material shipper/offeror (DOT).
Fresenius Kabi Canada & Calea, Ltd. - in matters regarding Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for new Fresenius Kabi Canada finished products, accidental spills, and regulatory inquiries by the Ministry of Labour/Ministry of Environment in several Provinces of Canada.
Fresenius Kabi AG (Parent Company) - in matters regarding Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for imported Fresenius Kabi finished products from overseas, and compliance with Fresenius Kabi EHS Management requirements.
Insurance Companies - in matters regarding Workers' Compensation Insurance, Claim Management, Insurance Carrier & Broker requirements, as well as in matters involving Loss Prevention & Control of our Facilities (i.e. Fire Protection and Prevention), et al.
