Neuromuscular Blocking Agent

  • The pharmacological effects are similar to those of other nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents. The neuromuscular blocking activity of Vecuronium bromide is enhanced in the presence of some general anesthetics.
  • Preliminary data suggest that Vecuronium bromide dosage requirements and the rate of recovery from neuromuscular blockade are similar in young and older adults

  • Vecuronium bromide is an adjunct to general anaesthesia to facilitate endotracheal intubation and to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery.

Vecuronium bromide is administered by rapid IV Injection or by IV infusion.Vecuronium bromide should not be administered by IM injection.

• For IV Injection,Vecuronium bromide 4mgis reconstituted by adding the supplied water for Injection

• For IV Injection,Vecuronium bromide 10mgis reconstituted by adding 5 ml of water for Injection
 

Note: before use, check for particulate matter if any. Unused portions should be discarded.

  • For prolonged surgical procedures vecuronium bromide may be given by continuous IV infusion, by further diluting the reconstituted injection to the desire concentration (0.1 to 0.2 mg/ml) in a compatible IV infusion such as 5% Dextrose, 5% Dextrose and 0.9% sodium chloride etc.Aprecise control of the flow rate during continuous infusion was required
  • Dosage of Vecuronium Bromide should be individualized according to individual requirement and response. The usual initial dosage 80 to 100 μg/kg body weight by IV injection.Additional doses of 10 – 15 μg/kg may be given as required during prolonged procedures.
  • The usual doses of Vecuronium Bromide may need to be reduced in the presence of certain drugs such as inhalation anaesthetics which may potentiate competitive neuromuscular blockade
