A 100-year heritage of caring

In 1912, the pharmacist Dr. Eduard Fresenius, proprietor of the Hirsch Pharmacy, established the pharmaceutical company Dr. E. Fresenius, expanding the pharmacy laboratory into a small manufacturing operation. Its main products were pharmaceutical specialties such as injection solutions, serologic reagents, and Bormelin nasal ointment. In 1952, Else Fernau (later Else Kröner), the foster daughter of Eduard Fresenius, assumed responsibility for the business, and began the transformation into the company as it stands today as a global producer of essential medicines and technologies and a leading provider of advanced medical care in Europe.
