Engaging Communities

Supporting the vital communities that connect every moment of care

Fresenius Kabi is investing more of our strength, experience, and passion to make more caring possible across the U.S. It starts with the ongoing expansion of our business in the region, bringing more economic opportunities to the communities in which we operate and making safe, efficient, essential products more accessible to our customers — so that they can do more for the patients in the communities in which they work.

But it doesn’t end there. At Fresenius Kabi, we never forget that the quality of care we all receive is as much, and sometimes more, a result of the people who provide it, as it is of the products they use. Caregiving is, after all, one of the most human of endeavors. That’s why we’re working side by side with nursing, pharmacy, and blood and plasma collection professionals — the communities we see every day on the frontlines of healthcare — to help ensure they get the added support they need to be at their best. Together, through scientific, clinical, educational, and advocacy institutions and programs, we’re working to give voice to issues, drive best practices, celebrate achievements, and encourage healthier futures — for all our nation’s medical professionals, as well as for all of us.

Shoulder to shoulder with nurses

Standing up for those who stand by us

Every day, across the nation, more than five million nurses — RNs, CNAs, LPNs, NPs, and other nursing professionals — create singular moments of healing that transform lives. Many of us at Fresenius Kabi have personally experienced the comfort having of an experienced nurse at our side when we were at our most vulnerable. But while nurses speak of their profession as one of profound rewards, they are facing significant workplace challenges that impact their own physical and mental health, quality of life, and even safety.

We’re proud to be able to raise awareness of the realities and needs of the nursing profession through our sponsorship of The American Nurse Project, to provide support to current and future nurses through various American Nurses Foundation funds and scholarship programs, and to share a seat at the table with nurses at important convenings of such industry groups as the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).

Empathetic processes drive efficiencies

Raising awareness of a rising role

Today’s hospital and clinic pharmacists have a critical role in caring for patients. They are core to ensuring medication safety, driving best practices, enhancing care teams, and achieving optimal outcomes — both in healthcare facilities, and in organizations like ours. Many of our own employees were trained as pharmacists and now work across all areas of our business, applying their deep expertise and personal experiences to shape the solutions Fresenius Kabi brings to pharmacists in clinical practice.

But pharmacists too often go unseen in our nation’s acute care sites. To ensure we all better appreciate — and appropriately support — the indispensable nature of the pharmacy profession, we proudly partner with the ASHP Foundation on the “Recognizing the Countless Ways Pharmacy Cares” program. Each year, we honor the contributions of extraordinary pharmacist professionals and raise awareness of their expanding role in and the real impact they have on everyday caregiving.

Celebrating dedication and generosity

Blood collectors and donors

Our nation’s blood supply depends on a vast community of individuals — professional collectors, blood donors, and everyday volunteers — who generously give their talents, time, and most importantly, their blood, for patients in need, often people they will never know. Fresenius Kabi has been proud to honor these life-saving heroes each year, since 1998, through the National Blood Donation Hall of Fame and, in partnership with AABB since 2005, through Blood Collectors Week. Telling their stories through these platforms is our way of helping to inspire others to participate in this vital part of healthcare, and make giving grow.

Plasma donation

Many patients with rare and complex conditions need treatments that can only be made from the proteins in plasma, the golden-colored component of our blood. But it takes many donations to treat just one patient — sometimes as much as a thousand — and as this patient population expands, so must the community of plasma donors. To assist the dedicated plasma collection professionals who work every day to fulfill their mission, Fresenius Kabi has been proud to launch the Life is golden awareness and education campaign, with factsheets and social media tools everyone can use to get the word out.
