Valuing the Quality of Life of Those Around Us

Claire House Children's Hospice

At the start of 2023, Fresenius Kabi UK employees chose Claire House Children’s Hospice as our nominated charity for 2023 and 2024.

Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children to make the most of the time they have, however long or short that may be. By providing specialist nursing and end of life care, as well as emotional support, Claire House helps families through some of the toughest times of their lives.

Claire House is a local hospice to Fresenius Kabi, UK.

During 2023, Fresenius Kabi employees exceeded expectations and held many wonderful events from celebrating The Coronation, Halloween, Dress Down Days, Cake Sales, Picnics, and Jam sales to name a few. We are very lucky to work amongst the most caring and thoughtful members of Fresenius Kabi, who have raised over £20,000 so far.

What does this mean for Claire House? It means...

Claire House was able to fund 3 months of Butterfly Care at the hospice. The Butterfly Team provides vital support to help families when a child sadly passes away, and Claire House is able to hold the family's hands through the hardest times.

Also,

363 local seriously ill or terminally ill children and their families received the care and support they needed.
179 children and young people had one or more overnight stays at the hospice giving parents and carers the chance to rest.
131 babies, children and young adults were cared for and supported at the end of their life.

The Great British Beach Clean

So far, data collected by the Marine Conservation Society has been used to support and campaign for the introduction of the plastic bag charge, the banning of microplastics in personal care products, better wet wipe labelling, and supporting a tax on single-use plastic items.1

Rachel Moonan, Environment and Sustainability Manager, at Fresenius Kabi UK said, “It was great to be involved in the Beach Clean today to support the local community and the environment. Thank you to the Marine Conversation Society for letting us be involved in the day”.
